Fredericia Furniture was awarded the "Interior Innovation Award Cologne 2008" for the Stingray rocking chair in veneer at the Cologne International Furniture Fair. The prestigious award presented in collaboration with German design institute, Rat für Formgebung, recognised not only the fair’s best design, but also the most innovative product on display. Chosen from a field of more than 450 products the award positions Fredericia Furniture alongside other Danish design classics.
The veneer version of the Stingray rocker was created by Thomas Pedersen as an innovative reworking of his earlier Stingray in plastic. Pedersen’s rising prominence in the international design world owes much to his ability for challenging familiar design and manufacturing assumptions. The latest version is the largest moulded 3D veneer shell in the world and is available in oak, walnut and makassar.
